KYJSUG + KYTechTalks - Stephen Harper Demos IoT w Particle Photon - Thursday June 15 at Awesome Inc

Published on Jun 12 2017

This month we’re meeting the evening of Thursday June 15 at Awesome Inc (348 E Main St) at 7PM. The very kind folks at Awesome have offered to help us host this month and we’re very grateful to them.

This month we’re doing another of our tech talks crossover meetings where we will be covering technologies and platforms beyond javascript that you may already know or that you might be interested in being exposed to.

This month Stephen Harper from Big Ass Solutions explores Creating a Simple Internet-Connected Power Switch and Web Dashboard Using a Particle Photon and .NET Core. He’ll demonstrate how quickly a developer with little to no embedded firmware experience can get an IoT prototype device up and running. Using a Particle Photon and a simple relay a basic smart switch prototype we’ll connect to the Particle cloud. And using Webhooks on the Particle cloud we will connect the device to a .NET Core web dashboard via a web API and HTTP endpoints. We will also build an interface using MVC to show the status of the connected switch and provide a button for simple on/off control.

Friends, don’t miss it. This should be really cool. We’ll see you Thursday the 15th.
